For retail

Rostering software for retail.

Roz is AI rostering software for Australian retail stores. It builds your floor roster around Thursday late night and Saturdays and keeps students inside their hours. Roz reviews each draft and flags a busy shift with no one senior on it.

14-day free trial · no card · two or three stores from $79 a month (incl. GST).

Why retail stores use Roz

Skill mix, checked

Tell Roz what a good shift looks like — "at least one floor lead on every Saturday shift". Roz's review flags a shift of only trainees and suggests a fix.

Peak cover

Set more people for late-night trading, Saturdays and sale days. Roz builds to those numbers.

Proactive fixes

Roz flags an under-covered Saturday PM before the week goes out, and proposes a fix you approve in one tap.

A week in retail with Roz

Set trading hours

Add each store's hours and the timeslots you roster in — open, midday, close, late night.

Set headcount

More people on Thursday late night, Saturday and sale days. Fewer on a quiet Tuesday.

Roz drafts

It fills each slot from who's available, keeps casuals inside their hours, and spreads weekends fairly.

Review and publish

Roz's review lists every short slot and skill-mix issue. Fix them in the editor or ask Roz.

Rules worth setting for retail

Floor lead on busy shifts

A plain-English rule that Roz's AI review checks each draft.

Student hours cap

Cap school students and student-visa staff at the weekly hours you set. Roz flags anyone who goes over.

Keyholder rule

Tag keyholders. Set a rule that every open and close role needs the tag.

Blackout dates

Stocktake day, exam weeks, planned leave.

Rest between shifts

Catch late-night close then 8am open.

Retail rosters and the General Retail Award

Most Australian retail stores roster under the General Retail Industry Award (MA000004), including junior and student pay points. Roz doesn't interpret the award or calculate junior rates, but you can cap student and junior hours as a rule, and Roz flags anyone who goes over. Check your own obligations on the Fair Work Ombudsman website.

What Roz doesn't do

Roz doesn't interpret the General Retail Industry Award, calculate penalty rates, or do timesheets or payroll. It doesn't forecast from your POS sales yet — you set the headcount per timeslot.

Retail rostering FAQ

Can Roz balance skill mix across a shift?

Partly. Describe the mix you want, like one floor lead on every Saturday shift. Roz's review flags shifts that miss it and suggests a fix. You decide.

Does Roz handle multiple stores?

One store with up to 15 staff fits Lite ($49 a month). Two or three stores fit Starter ($79 a month for your first 12 months, then $149). All prices include GST. See multi-site rostering for more locations.

Can Roz roster around sales or foot traffic?

Not automatically. Set the headcount per timeslot and day, and Roz builds to it.

How do casuals pick up extra shifts?

Open shifts can be picked up by staff in the app or by message. You approve each pickup.

Can I roster for Christmas and sale periods?

Yes. Raise the headcount for those days. Roz knows Australian public holidays.

Does Roz calculate retail award rates?

No. Most retail stores roster under the General Retail Industry Award — use your payroll tool for pay.

Can Roz keep student casuals off the roster during exams?

Yes. Add exam weeks as blackout dates for that student, and Roz keeps them off the roster until the dates clear.

Is my staff data safe with an AI?

Your roster data is stored in Sydney. Roz's AI runs on Claude, made by Anthropic, which doesn't train on your data. Roz suggests changes, and no roster change goes out until you approve it. Read more on our security page.
