Common questions

Why aren't you charging per seat?

Management users are cheap to support — the actual cost of running SmartRoster scales with the number of shifts, staff profiles, and AI reviews. So that's what we price on. Invite your whole back-office team; you won't pay more.

What counts toward my staff cap?

Only active staff. If someone leaves, flip them to inactive and they stop counting — their historical rosters stick around so reports still work.

What happens if I go over my AI review cap mid-month?

The rules engine (the deterministic part — rest hours, quals, blackouts) keeps running for free. The AI review — the pattern-matching one — returns a soft error with an upgrade link. No surprise bills.

What's the Custom plan?

For franchise networks, enterprise operators, and businesses with more than 5 sites or 150 staff. Custom limits, dedicated support, optional SAML SSO, custom integrations. Usually priced on headcount with an annual agreement.

Can I change plans?

Yes — any time, from the Billing page. Upgrades are immediate; downgrades apply from the next billing cycle.

Do you offer annual pricing?

Not at launch on Lite / Starter / Pro — monthly only for the first few months, then we'll add annual with the usual discount. Custom plans are annual by default.
