For newsrooms & media teams

Rostering software for newsrooms and media teams.

Roz is AI rostering software for Australian newsrooms and media teams. It rosters your desk shifts and the jobs inside them. When a story is filed, Roz proposes where that person goes next.

14-day free trial · no card · then $49 a month (incl. GST) for one desk with up to 15 staff.

Why newsrooms and media teams use Roz

Deliverable-aware

When you mark a story filed or a still in, Roz sees the freed-up capacity and can move that person to what's still live.

Live reallocation

When two events overlap, Roz proposes moving freed-up people onto what's still live, for you to approve.

Role coverage

Every event gets its lead, sub, photo, video, and web roles checked — Roz flags anything still unassigned.

A week on the desk with Roz

Load the events

Fixtures, launches, shoots. Each event lists the roles it needs — lead, sub, photo, video, web.

Roz assigns people

It matches people to roles by skill and availability, and flags any unassigned role.

Track the work

Each deliverable moves through drafting, filed, published, live — set by you or your CMS.

Reallocate live

When a piece publishes, that person is free. Roz proposes where to use them next.

Rules worth setting for newsroom and media teams

Newsroom rosters and media awards

Reporters and subs often roster under the Journalists Published Media Award (MA000067). Broadcast and production crew often roster under the Broadcasting, Recorded Entertainment and Cinemas Award (MA000091). Roz doesn't interpret either award or calculate penalty rates, but you can set rest and hours rules, and Roz flags a roster that breaks them. Check your own obligations on the Fair Work Ombudsman website.

What Roz doesn't do

Roz doesn't publish content or connect to your CMS. You or your tools set a deliverable's status; Roz uses that status to plan moves. It doesn't interpret the Journalists Published Media Award or the Broadcasting, Recorded Entertainment and Cinemas Award, and it doesn't do penalty rates or payroll.

Newsroom and media rostering FAQ

Is Roz suitable for newsrooms and media teams?

Yes. The production view rosters around events and deliverables — lead, sub, photo, video, web. When you mark a deliverable filed or published, Roz proposes moving that person's freed-up capacity to what's still live.

Can it reassign people when an event is delayed or overlaps another?

Yes. Update a deliverable's status and Roz proposes moving freed-up people to what's still live, for you to approve.

Does Roz work for events, not just shifts?

Yes. The production view is built around events and the roles each one needs.

Can freelancers use Roz?

Yes. Add them as staff with their availability. They confirm each assignment by WhatsApp, Telegram or the app.

What happens when an event is delayed?

Roz shows who is still tied up and proposes moves for anything still live. You approve each move.

Can Roz handle more than media?

Any team that works to events and deliverables — broadcast, sport, live events — can use the production view.

Can Roz handle overnight and rotating desks?

Yes. Set an overnight desk as its own role with its own rest rule, and Roz warns before rotating it onto the same person too many nights in a row.

Is my staff data safe with an AI?

Your roster data is stored in Sydney. Roz's AI runs on Claude, made by Anthropic, which doesn't train on your data. Roz suggests changes, and no roster change goes out until you approve it. Read more on our security page.
